Daily Care Guide for On-Metal Tags

Jul 19, 2025

As an identification solution designed specifically for metal surfaces, on-metal tags are widely used in logistics, warehousing, asset management, and other fields. Their unique anti-metal properties enable them to maintain stable reading performance in metallic environments. However, without proper daily care, their lifespan and performance may be affected. Therefore, understanding and following scientific care methods is crucial.

First, cleaning is fundamental to on-metal tag maintenance. During daily use, dust, oil, and other contaminants may accumulate on the tag surface, which can interfere with RF signal transmission. It is recommended to gently wipe the tag surface with a soft, non-woven cloth or cotton swab dipped in a small amount of neutral detergent (such as alcohol). Avoid using solvents containing corrosive chemicals to prevent damage to the tag's encapsulation layer. After wiping, wipe off any remaining liquid with a dry cloth and ensure the tag is completely dry before use.

Second, avoiding physical damage is key to extending the life of the tag. Although on-metal tags have a certain degree of wear resistance, prolonged exposure to friction, pressure, or severe vibration may damage the outer casing or the internal chip. When installing or moving the tag, handle it with care and avoid direct contact with hard objects. If tags are used in dynamic environments (such as logistics), it's recommended to install a protective film or cushioning material to reduce impact risk.

In addition, environmental factors can significantly impact tag performance. High temperatures, high humidity, or strong acid and alkaline environments can accelerate tag aging. When storing or using tags, choose an environment with a moderate temperature (typically -20°C to 60°C) and controlled humidity. If tags are exposed to extreme conditions for extended periods, it's recommended to regularly check their adhesion and reading performance and replace them if necessary.

Finally, regular testing of tag readability is crucial to ensuring long-term reliability. Use a handheld reader to regularly scan the tag to confirm stable data transmission. If signal attenuation or read failure is detected, promptly identify the cause and take appropriate measures.

Through effective cleaning, protection, and regular testing, the performance and lifespan of anti-metal tags can be effectively guaranteed, providing continuous and reliable support for a variety of applications.
