In the industrial IoT and asset management sectors, interference from metal environments with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology remains a pressing technical bottleneck. The design concept of the anti-metal tag addresses this real-world need. Through collaborative innovation in materials science, electromagnetics, and engineering, an intelligent identification system capable of stable operation on metal surfaces is constructed.
Technically, anti-metal tags employ an electromagnetic wave reflection compensation mechanism. This mechanism uses an internal high-dielectric-constant substrate (such as ceramic or specialty plastic) to alter the RF signal propagation path. Air gaps or absorbing materials offset the eddy currents generated by the metal surface, converting electromagnetic waves that would otherwise be reflected by the metal into effective read/write signals. Some advanced designs also utilize microstrip antenna array technology to dynamically adjust the radiation pattern to accommodate varying metal curvatures.
Material selection reflects a balance of functionality: the outer shell is typically constructed of an ABS+PC blended engineering plastic for mechanical strength, the internal lining utilizes ferrite sheets to absorb interference waves, and the antenna substrate is constructed of polyimide film for high-temperature stability. In terms of structural design, the back of the tag is often equipped with an adjustable silicone gasket to ensure reliable coupling with metal surfaces while preventing signal attenuation caused by physical contact.
The core value of this design concept lies in expanding the application boundaries of RFID technology, enabling precise tracking in strong metal environments such as warehouse shelving, automotive manufacturing, and power equipment inspection. Modern anti-metal tags have transcended the limitations of traditional flat form factors and evolved into innovative forms such as flexible anti-metal films and three-dimensional structures. While maintaining an IP68 protection rating, they maintain a stable read and write distance of 0.5-3 meters, providing a reliable technical platform for digital asset management in the Industry 4.0 era.
